The National Centre for Synchrotron Science building is a two storey, 5 Star Green Star rated development located in Clayton, Melbourne. Taking inspiration from light and its interaction with surfaces, the Centre features a transparent skin and backlit façade, utilizing contemporary materials that complement the world-class synchrotron science facility.

The Centre provides office accommodation for Australian Synchrotron staff, a 400-seat auditorium, exhibition space, seminar rooms and a cafeteria above basement car parking.

Sustainability initiatives include 20kl recycled water tanks, energy efficient heating and cooling systems and photo-voltaic panels mounted on the roof, which offset the electricity required to power the backlit façade.
