Single LEAP Phase 2 is a Commonwealth of Australia initiative, through the Department of Defence, to provide over 3,000 new single living accommodation units and associated services across 14 separate ADF Bases around Australia.

Plenary Living was responsible for the design, construction and now manages the facilities delivered by the project. WSP Structures worked closely during the bid and design phases with the whole project team that included architects, Woods Bagot and the five builders responsible for delivery: Sitzler, Built Environs, Pindan, Watpac and Richard Crookes Constructions.

Once the project shifted to construction phase, WSP Structures was novated to the builders to complete the documentation and oversee construction.

Sitzler were responsible for construction of 680 units at Robertson Barracks and 230 units at Larrakeyah Barracks in Darwin, NT. Their use of precast floor plates and tilt up precast walls for the typical accommodation blocks allowed for construction to be completed within the tight timeframe and helped mitigate risk from the wet season rains.

Built Environs constructed 430 units at RAAF Base Edinburgh, SA, with the precast walls split into transportable widths to allow for offsite fabrication.

Pindan were responsible for the construction of 60 units at Campbell Barracks and 260 units at HMAS Stirling, WA. Pindan also utilized on site tilt-up panels and large table forms to improve the speed of construction.

WSP Structures worked closely with each of the builders to help hone the standard accommodation block design into something that suited local conditions and could be constructed in a timely manner.

Plenary Living proudly announced in March 2014 that the Single LEAP Phase 2 project had been delivered on time and on budget.
